Sauti said: Carried by Suparṇa, they soon came to an island. It was surrounded by the waters of the ocean and echoed with the songs of birds.
सौती ने कहा: सुपर्ण द्वारा ले जाए गए, वे जल्द ही एक द्वीप पर आए। यह समुद्र के पानी से घिरा हुआ था और पक्षियों के गीतों से गूंज रहा था।
There were myriad fruits and flowers in the woods that were there. There were beautiful houses and lakes with lotuses.
वहाँ के जंगलों में असंख्य फल और फूल थे। वहाँ सुंदर घर और कमलों से युक्त झीलें थीं।
It was adorned with charming lakes that were full of clear water. It was refreshed with pure winds that carried with them divine fragrances.
यह आकर्षक झीलों से सुशोभित था जो साफ पानी से भरी हुई थीं। यह शुद्ध हवाओं से तरोताजा हो गया था जो अपने साथ दिव्य सुगंध लेकर आई थी।
It was radiant with trees that grow on the Mālaya mountains. They rose high up in the sky and stirred by the breeze, showered down flowers.
यह मलय पर्वत पर उगने वाले वृक्षों से दीप्तिमान था। वे आकाश में ऊँचे उठे और हवा के झोंके से हिलकर फूलों की वर्षा करने लगे।
It was as if the trees bathed the nāga-s who lived there with rain in the form of flowers. It was a charming, pleasant and divine place, dear to the gāndharva-s and the āpsara-s. Echoing with the sweet melodies of many birds, it delighted Kadrū's sons.
यह ऐसा था मानो वृक्षों ने वहां रहने वाले नागों को फूलों के रूप में वर्षा से नहला दिया हो। यह एक आकर्षक, सुखद और दिव्य स्थान था, जो गंधर्वों और अप्सराओं को प्रिय था। अनेक पक्षियों की मधुर धुनों से गूंजते हुए, इसने कद्रू के पुत्रों को प्रसन्न किया।
Having arrived in those woods, the pannaga-s enjoyed themselves there. Then they told the immensely valorous Suparṇa, supreme among birds,
उन जंगलों में पहुंचकर पन्नगों ने वहां आनंद उठाया। तब उन्होंने पक्षियों में श्रेष्ठ परम वीर सुपर्ण से कहा,
"Take us to another beautiful island that has large quantities of water. O bird! You must have seen many enchanting countries when travelling through the sky."
"हमें एक और खूबसूरत द्वीप पर ले चलो जिसमें बड़ी मात्रा में पानी है। हे पक्षी! तुमने आकाश में यात्रा करते समय कई मनमोहक देश देखे होंगे।"
Having thought about this, the bird asked his mother Vinatā, " O mother! Why must I do what the serpents ask me to?"
इस पर विचार करके पक्षी ने अपनी माता विनता से पूछा, "हे माँ! सर्पों ने मुझसे जो कहा है, वह मैं क्यों करूँ?"
Vinatā replied: "O supreme among birds! I have become the slave of my ignoble sister. The serpents deceived me and made me lose a wager."
विनता ने उत्तर दिया: "हे पक्षियों में श्रेष्ठ! मैं अपनी नीच बहन का दास बन गया हूं। सांपों ने मुझे धोखा दिया और मुझे दांव में हार का सामना करना पड़ा।"
Sauti said: When his mother told him the reason, the one who travels in the sky grieved. He told the serpents,
सौती ने कहा: जब उसकी माँ ने उसे इसका कारण बताया, तो आकाश में यात्रा करने वाले को दुःख हुआ। उसने साँपों से कहा,

किमाहृत्य विदित्वा वा किं वा कृत्वेह पौरुषम् दास्याद्वो विप्रमुच्येयं सत्यं शंसत लेलिहाः
"O serpents! What can I get you? What can I find out for you? What feat of power can I perform? Tell me truly how one can be freed from this state of slavery."
"हे नागों! मैं तुम्हें क्या प्राप्त कर सकता हूं? मैं तुम्हारे लिए क्या खोज सकता हूं? मैं शक्ति का कौन सा पराक्रम कर सकता हूं? मुझे सच-सच बताओ कि कोई इस गुलामी की स्थिति से कैसे मुक्त हो सकता है।"
Having heard the bird, the serpents asked him to use his energy to bring the amṛtā. That was the way to be freed from slavery.
पक्षी की बात सुनकर, साँपों ने उससे अमृत लाने के लिए अपनी ऊर्जा का उपयोग करने को कहा। गुलामी से मुक्ति का यही रास्ता था.
